Croí works with communities across Ireland to help people understand their heart health and take preventive action early, support recovery after illness, and provide ongoing help for people and families.

Croí’s work

Croí helps people look after their heart health before something happens, supports them if they do get sick, and helps them and their families afterwards. It’s all about giving people support at the right time. Croí provides:

• Heart health checks in communities
• Rehabilitation and recovery programmes
• Support services for patients and families

Why this matters

Heart disease and stroke remain among the biggest causes of death and disability in Ireland. Up to 90% of cases may be preventable with earlier awareness and healthier lifestyles. Many people don’t know they have risk factors such as high blood pressure until it’s too late.

Over 80% of Croí’s funding comes from voluntary contributions, fundraising and philanthropy.  While Croí does receive some funding for specific programmes from public bodies and other partners the vast majority of our funding (over 80%) must be raised annually. Donations help Croí provide and expand services, reach more communities and be there when people need us most.
